What I don't like about these changes is that they're breaking the existing input files of the users (the next version of OPAL won't be a new major version). We could change the code such that the users have to provide either 3 or 4 arguments. If there are only 3 arguments then s is the fourth.

I agree strongly with @kraus

In this case s would need to be the default value.
